Good evening, today is Friday, September 2nd, and I’m Hector Montemayor-Perez.
Tom Homan, former director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, will be the feature speaker at a Republican Women’s Fundraiser scheduled for October.
Homan has appeared regularly on national news broadcasts speaking about the current influx of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico Border.
The West of the Pecos Republican Women’s Club fundraiser will be at the Granada Theater October 18, just three weeks before the November Mid-Term Election.
Dinner, beverages and a live auction will be included.
Sponsorships are available and volunteers are needed. Tickets will be available on Eventbrite.

Big Bend is featured in an episode of National Geographic’s “America’s National Parks” on the Disney-Plus streaming app.
Country music singer Garth Brooks narrates the series with this episode showcasing the diverse landscape and wildlife of the Big Bend.
Ben Masters, who directed the film “Deep in the Heart,” and his Fin and Fur films team conducted the cinematography for this episode.
In a Facebook post, Masters said the episode will follow bears around the Chisos, beavers along the Rio Grande and bats pollinating Agaves under the milky way.
The Museum of the Big Bend will host a special opening weekend for the 35th Annual Trappings of Texas September 15 through 17.
Trappings of Texas showcases those who create contemporary Western art and custom cowboy gear and will be open from September 15 until November 5.
Tickets are available for a preview party at the Museum September 15 where people can register to become a buyer, meet the artists and enjoy food and drinks from 5 to 8 p.m.
That Friday will kick off with artist demonstrations at the Museum with an opportunity to meet the artists and learn about their craft from 11 to 3.
The opening reception and sale will follow from 6 to 9 at the Museum with dinner and complimentary wine and beer.
Saturday the 17th will kick off with Ranch Hand Breakfast at the Museum at 8 followed by Artist Demonstrations and Presentations from 11 to 3.
Trappings of Texas will end with a roundup party at Miter Peak ranch with a special sale and dinner.

Tickets are available for members and sponsors of the Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering scheduled for February 17 and 18 at Sul Ross State University.
They will be available to the general public in October. Anyone wanting a ticket before that time can become a member. See information on the webpage at Lone Star Cowboy Poetry-dot-com.
Tickets will allow entry to the Show Rodeo February 15 with events by members of the Sul Ross State University Rodeo Team, poetry from David Richmond and music from Jim Wilson.
Tickets also are required for the 1 o’clock and 3 o’clock shows, chuckwagon breakfasts, suppers, and night shows.
Shows include “Humor on the Range” featuring R. P. Smith and Jake Riley on the 17th and “Howlin’ at the Moon” featuring Juni Fisher and Kristyn Harris on the 18th.
The 3 o’clock show on the 17th will feature “Around the Campfire” by The Rifters, Dale Burson and Andy and Emily Wilkinson.
The following day at the same time will be “Come All You Cowboys” by Andy Hedges, Waddie Mitchell and Pipp Gillette.
