Rev. Beverley Anne O’Shaughnessy of Alpine has passed away. She was 71.
Rev. Beverley dedicated more than two decades of her life to ministry as an Anglican priest, shepherding her congregation with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering faith.
Outside the church, she was a devoted mother and grandmother, finding her greatest joy in her family. Her love for her children and grandchildren was matched only by her faith.
Though she struggled with long-term illness, she remained steadfast and strong. And though her passing was sudden, she leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will live on through her family, friends, and the many lives she touched in her ministry.
She is survived by her son, her three grandchildren, her sister and her two nephews.
A service of thanksgiving for her life and ministry will be held at the Alpine Episcopal Church on Saturday, September 13 at 5 p.m.

Tomorrow (TUESDAY), the Alpine City Council holds a special meeting to “conduct interviews” for the position of city manager and discuss the next steps in the hiring process.
That’s according to an agenda for the meeting.
Those discussions are set to happen in executive session, which is closed to the public.
The special meeting takes place Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the council chambers.

This week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection will commemorate 9/11, and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, at the Big Bend Sector’s Alpine station.
The remembrance ceremony takes place Thursday at the station’s 9/11 memorial, which features a steel artifact from the World Trade Center.
The event is open to the public and starts Thursday morning at 10.

The Museum of the Big Bend kicks off the 39th Annual Trappings of Texas next week, starting September 18.
This year features a lineup of events, from live demonstrations and parties to a live auction.
This year, the Museum celebrates watercolorist Tim Oliver as the 2025 Trappings of Texas premier artist.
The exhibit–the nation’s longest-running exhibit and sale dedicated to Western art and custom cowboy gear–will remain on display through November 1.

St. Joseph Cemetery Association in Fort Davis will meet next week to discuss future plans on improving the cemetery grounds. They’ll also talk about fundraisers such as a Dia de los Muertos event and the Cemetery Association Craft Fair.
The meeting takes place September 16 at 6:00 p.m. at the Saint Joseph Parish Hall in Fort Davis.
The public is invited to attend, and their input is encouraged.

Next month, the 4th-annual Big Bend Blue Grass Festival will bring the tradition of bluegrass and other American-roots music to the Big Bend.
Taking place at the Alpine Civic Center, the event encourages the preservation and enjoyment of the music style with free workshops and live performances.
The two-day event starts Friday, October 3 and will feature artists like the Larry Stephenson Band and Purple Hulls.

La Reverenda Beverley Anne O’Shaughnessy, de Alpine, falleció a los 71 años.
La Reverenda Beverley dedicó más de dos décadas de su vida al ministerio como sacerdotisa anglicana, pastoreando a su congregación con compasión, sabiduría y una fe inquebrantable.
Fuera de la iglesia, fue una madre y abuela dedicada, y su mayor alegría la encontró en su familia. Su amor por sus hijos y nietos solo era comparable a su fe.
Aunque sufrió una larga enfermedad, se mantuvo firme y fuerte. Y aunque su fallecimiento fue repentino, deja un legado de fe, amor y servicio que perdurará a través de su familia, amigos y las muchas vidas que tocó con su ministerio. Le sobreviven su hijo, sus tres nietos, su hermana y sus dos sobrinos.
Se celebrará un servicio de acción de gracias por su vida y ministerio en la Iglesia Episcopal de Alpine el sábado 13 de septiembre a las 5.

Mañana (MARTES), el Ayuntamiento de Alpine celebrará una reunión extraordinaria para realizar entrevistas para el puesto de administrador municipal y debatir los próximos pasos del proceso de contratación.

Esta semana, la Oficina de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza de EE. UU. conmemorará el 11-S y recordará las casi 3000 vidas que se perdieron ese día en la estación Alpine del Sector Big Bend.
La ceremonia conmemorativa se llevará a cabo el jueves en el monumento conmemorativo del 11-S de la estación, que exhibe un artefacto de acero del World Trade Center.
