Charlotte Elise Wilson of Alpine died on Saturday, August 23 in El Paso, Texas. She was 57.
Charlotte, born in El Paso, attended school in El Paso and graduated from Andrews High School. She continued her education at Sul Ross State University, graduating with both a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.
Charlotte went on to teach elementary school for thirty years in El Paso, Marfa, and Alpine.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, William C. Wilson, her two daughters, as well as her parents and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
After retiring, Charlotte enjoyed working on her home in Alpine, and serving as clerk for the First Presbyterian Church. She also enjoyed gardening with her beloved friends in Alpine, painting, flower arranging for Double K flowers, working with wood, and being active in an El Paso ground for retired teachers.
Charlotte loved life, loved being a mother and wife, and she loved being a daughter and sister.
She will also be missed by her community and many close friends in Alpine, her childhood in El Paso, and everyone who interacted with her.
A service for Charlotte will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Alpine, Texas at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025.

Tomorrow (WEDNESDAY) at noon, the local nonprofit Alpine Community Projects will host a state of education panel at the Espino Center at Sul Ross State University.
The discussion will feature Carlos Hernandez, president of Sul Ross State University, and Michelle Rinehart, the superintendent of Alpine Independent School District.
According to organizers, the goal of the event is to give attendees an update from Sul Ross and Alpine ISD – in effort to help people understand both the opportunities and the challenges facing our educational institutions.
The event is Wednesday, September 3 and starts at noon. It’s free and open to the public.

After a pleasant Labor Day weekend, temperatures across West Texas will begin to warm up and last through much of the week.
According to the National Weather Service, afternoon highs this week will range from the upper 80s to mid 90s.
Forecasters also say we aren’t likely to see any more rain, as the chances for storms are declining across the whole region for the rest of the week.

This weekend, the Wassermann Wranch in Alpine is hosting a community workday on the sprawling West Texas ranch known for its donkeys, kangaroos and camels.
The ranch is looking for help maintaining and cleaning up the property. In a social media post, the ranch says some tasks will require running a chainsaw and welding, while other needs include clearing an old fence to make way for a new one, and cutting down trees.
Lunch will be served, and water and snacks will be provided as well.
Interested volunteers should bring work gloves and sturdy work boots.
The volunteer cleanup starts Saturday, Sept. 6 at 8 a.m.

The Big Bend Arts Council is now selecting works for its next gallery show.
“Delicious…All about Food” is a veritable smorgasbord of art relating to food – and you can catch it at the Big Bend Gallery beginning next month.
Artists looking to submit work to the show must do so before next Tuesday, September 9.
A reception will be Friday, September 12, from 5 to 7 at 121 W. Holland Ave.

Later this month, celebrate National Public Lands day by cleaning up the most iconic pockets of Big Bend Ranch State Park.
On Saturday, September 27 from 10 a.m. to noon, head to the park as staff and volunteers clean up a portion of River Road and some of the most popular trails in the park.

Charlotte Elise Wilson, de Alpine, falleció el sábado 23 de agosto en El Paso, Texas. Tenía 57 años.
Charlotte, nacida en El Paso, estudió en la misma ciudad y se graduó de la Preparatoria Andress. Continuó su educación en la Universidad Estatal Sul Ross, donde obtuvo una licenciatura y una maestría en educación.
Charlotte continuó enseñando en la escuela primaria durante treinta años en El Paso, Marfa y Alpine.
Le sobreviven su esposo de 32 años, William C. Wilson, sus dos hijas, así como sus padres y numerosas tías, tíos, sobrinas, sobrinos y primos.
Tras jubilarse, Charlotte disfrutó trabajando en su casa en Alpine y sirviendo como secretaria en la Primera Iglesia Presbiteriana. También disfrutaba de la jardinería con sus queridos amigos de Alpine, pintando, haciendo arreglos florales para Double K, trabajando con madera y participando activamente en un jardín de El Paso para maestros jubilados.
A Charlotte le encantaba la vida, le encantaba ser madre y esposa, y le encantaba ser hija y hermana.
También la extrañarán su comunidad y muchos amigos cercanos en Alpine, su infancia en El Paso y todos los que interactuaron con ella.
Se llevará a cabo un servicio para Charlotte en la Primera Iglesia Presbiteriana en Alpine, a la 1:00 p. m. el sábado 13 de septiembre del 2025.

Después de un agradable fin de semana del Día del Trabajo, las temperaturas en el oeste de Texas comenzarán a calentarse y durarán gran parte de la semana.
Según el Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, las temperaturas máximas por la tarde de esta semana oscilarán entre los 80 y los 90 grados.
Los meteorólogos también dicen que no es probable que veamos más lluvia, ya que las posibilidades de tormentas están disminuyendo en toda la región durante el resto de la semana.

Este fin de semana, el Wassermann Wranch en Alpine organizará una jornada de trabajo comunitaria en el extenso rancho del oeste de Texas conocido por sus burros, canguros y camellos.
El rancho busca ayuda para el mantenimiento y la limpieza de la propiedad. En una publicación en redes sociales, el rancho indica que algunas tareas requerirán usar una motosierra y soldar, mientras que otras incluyen limpiar una cerca vieja para construir una nueva y talar árboles.
Se servirá almuerzo y también se proporcionará agua y bocadillos.
Los voluntarios interesados deberán traer guantes de trabajo y botas de trabajo resistentes.
La limpieza voluntaria comienza el sábado 6 de septiembre a las 8 a.m.

El Consejo de Artes de Big Bend ahora está seleccionando obras para su próxima exposición en la galería.
