Good evening, today is Wednesday, September 14th, and I’m Hector Montemayor-Perez.
We finally got the obit for Harry Mois thanks to Mary McCallister.
The Alpine resident and owner of Harry’s Tinaja died at home on September 2 at age 61.
Harry was born in Schwandorf, Germany, and was raised in Ettmansdorf and began his professional journey as a brewmaster apprentice at a brewery in Schwandorf.
An avid motorcyclist, he later traveled around Europe and into Africa, working as brewmaster at several establishments.
Harry traveled to the U.S. and settled in Alpine in 1999 where he made his mark with The Edelweiss Restaurant and Brewery in the Holland Hotel which he opened with his first wife.
In July 2007, Harry opened his bar Harry’s Tinaja on East Holland Avenue and it has remained as a popular watering hole.
He is survived by his only son and a sister.
A celebration of Harry’s life will occur at a later date.
The West of the Pecos Republican Women’s Club will feature Former ICE Director Tom Homan at its next Gala and Fundraiser next month.
Homan has appeared widely on national media lately to discuss the crisis on the Texas-Mexico border in which more than two million illegal entrants have crossed in the last two years.
The program, called “Where Texas Goes, So Goes the Nation” will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, at the Granada Theatre in Alpine.
Ken Mayo, director of field operations for former President Donald Trump, will deliver the opening remarks.
Tickets range from 200 dollars for individual tickets. Sponsorship tables for 750 to three thousand dollars also will be available.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and attire will be, in the words of the invitation, “Cowboy Cocktail.”

Alpine Municipal Court has announced its Quarterly Warrant Roundup and published a list of those involved on the Police Facebook Page.
Individuals on the list are asked to contact the court and resolve their citation matter before next Wednesday.
They may voluntarily take care of citations and avoid concern of being arrested. The court date should already have been set for those who want to plead not guilty.
If your name is not on the list, but you are not sure if you have an outstanding citation, call 837-0808 or email courtclerk@ci.alpoine.tx.us.
The 10th Big Bend Big Fix low-cost spay and neuter clinic will be in Terlingua October 1 and 2 at $100 per cat or dog.
The fee will cover the spay or neuter surgery and basic vaccines including rabies with microchips available at $10 extra.
The clinic is open to pet owners from the Big Bend and TransPecos region and must be scheduled beforehand.
The big bend fix is hosted by the Far West Texas Rescue Coalition and the veterinary team from Animal Balance. To register call 837-2532.
Also in South County, the Big Bend Chamber of Commerce is hosting a meeting next Wednesday at the Red Pattillo Center on the Hotel Occupancy Tax.
Alpine Tourism Council Executive Director Robert Alvarez will explain what HOT funds are and what the chamber does with the money it receives.
Alvarez will provide business leaders and everyday citizens with an overview and answer any questions.
