The Alpine City Council will meet at 5:30 Tuesday after last week’s meeting had to be canceled for lack of a quorum.
On the agenda is a public hearing and then the requested adoption of the city tax rate for the fiscal year beginning October 1.
The proposed rate is 46.6326 cents per 100-dollar valuation.
Among four action items is one on a resolution prohibiting installation or use of Tik Tok on city devices and other devices involved in city business. Tik Tok is reportedly owned by the Communist Chinese government and there have been published reports of it being used to spy on U.S. Citizens.
Another would approve the 2023-24 Public Library agreement, increasing the city donation from 40 thousand to 45 thousand dollars per year.
The council will meet at 5:30 Tuesday in the City Council Chamber at 803 West Holland Avenue.
The Sul Ross Small Business Development Center offers another training session Wednesday on how to Choose the Right Franchise Opportunity for You.

The Talent Studio Classes in traditional portraiture in oils will be from 5 to 8 Tuesdays this month, including tomorrow (today), next week, September 19 and 26 at the studio on 8 th Street.
The class in the application of classical methodology to portraiture and students are expected to know traditional painting techniques including en brunaille and basic color theory.
They will work on the composition and drawing the portrait, including the composition and color theory as it applies to flesh tones.
The student should bring the materials on the supply list but solvents will be provided. Cost is 200 dollars.
The fees will be refunded if the class fills up or is canceled.
The Big Bend Arts Council thanks all the artists who exhibited in the Abstract Art Show that ends Tuesday.
Artists are asked to come by and pick up artwork by 4:30 Tuesday. If they need to come by earlier that day, it will be O.K.
Artists or their representatives will need to sign for the artwork being picked up.
Meanwhile, any submissions into the Black and White show must be brought to the gallery and checked in by staff by Tuesday.
All framed items must be in a black or white frame and any item meant to hang must be wired for hanging.
The reception will be from 5 to 7:30 this Friday.
Registration for the Alpine Junior Bucks youth sports organization is available through September 18 for first through sixth grades.
Seasons for both sports are expected to start in October and run into December.
The Junior Bucks offer opportunities for both youth flag football and, for the first time in recent memory, youth volleyball as well.
