St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Marfa is hosting their annual Blessing of the Animals this weekend at the Presidio County courthouse.
The event is Saturday, October 4 th from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
In celebration of St. Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of Animals, you’re invited to bring your pets to the courthouse lawn to be blessed for good health and well-being.
If your pet cannot attend in person, please bring a photo. You may also bring a favorite stuffed animal or photo of a pet who has passed on.
This event is free and open to the public.

This weekend, after a 30-year hiatus, the Moon & Tunes music festival returns to Fort Davis.
The lineup for the festival’s comeback includes Del Rio’s William Beckmann and Jason Boland, among others.
The festival takes place October 3 and 4 at the High Frontier.

Next weekend, Sul Ross State University will continue its schedule of guided hikes up Hancock Hill.
The series of hikes are led by professionals who will take you up to the hill, and along the way will provide insights to the land and wildlife in the region.
The next hike of the season is Saturday, October 11. It will be led by Kevin Urbanczyk who will talk about water resources.
All events begin at 9 a.m., and take roughly two hours. The hikes are free and open to the public.

The Alpine Humane Society is looking for donations for a silent auction next month.
The auction is part of the nonprofit’s annual fundraising event, “Dia de los Quesos.”
Consider donating quality collectibles, art, jewelry, tools, gift certificates, and other items of value. The nonprofit will also accept sponsorships for the event of $100 or more and will acknowledge sponsors on social media and at the event.
All donations are eligible for a tax-deductible donation receipt.

The fundraiser will be Saturday, October 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Alpine Civic Center.

The Brewster County Groundwater Conservation District will hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
The conservation district manages groundwater resources in Brewster County.

Later this month, the Sul Ross State University Music Program will host an evening of classical music, featuring pianist Jae-Eun Baek and guitarist Stephen Krishnan.
The concert will be Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m., and will be held in the Studio Theater of the Francois Fine Arts Building on the campus in Alpine.
Admission is free and open to the public.

La subasta forma parte del evento anual de recaudación de fondos de la organización sin fines de lucro, “Día de los Quesos”.
Considere donar coleccionables de calidad, obras de arte, joyería, herramientas, certificados de regalo y otros artículos de valor. La organización también aceptará patrocinios para el evento a partir de $100 y reconocerá a los patrocinadores en las redes sociales y durante el evento.
Todas las donaciones son elegibles para un recibo deducible de impuestos.
