National Night Out for police departments including in Alpine and Marfa will be observed Tuesday evening and we wrongly reported earlier the Alpine event would be at Baines Park.
The Marfa observance will be from 6 to 9 tomorrow at Coffield Park near West Lincoln and Ridge Streets.
But Alpine will honor their finest at Kokernot Park, not Baines. Time is still at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
As we reported, it is designed to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be served at both, along with bouncers, games and giveaways for the kids.
Other law enforcement agencies like state D.P.S., U.S. Border Patrol and others have been invited to take part in observances in their communities.
Come out to Kokernot Park in Alpine and Coffield Park in Marfa at 6 Tuesday evening and get to know the men and women who keep us all safe.
The Alpine Independent School District is honoring Mrs. Alexis Vogel as Porter’s Teacher of the Month for September.
The award recognizes an Alpine teacher who lives out the Fightin’ Buck values of honesty, respect, responsibility, compassion, fairness and accountability.
The announcement notes Mrs. Vogel is a culture builder on campus, helping to build ideal culture every day and leads high-quality instruction in her classroom every day.
She is known for her love of children, her contagious positivity, the amazing music lessons she designs and leads and for going above and beyond the call of duty.
Porter’s sponsors the monthly award to show their support of Alpine school district teachers.
The Sul Ross Small Business Development Center has training sessions scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week.
Wednesday’s webinar will be from 10 to 11 on real estate leasing. It will be an overview of the leasing process and asset classes include retail, office and self-storage.
Webinar participants will learn each step of the leasing process and what to expect during the leasing experience.
The asset classes will be analyzed and explained and will give participants knowledge on how to go through the leasing process effectively and efficiently to cultivate a successful deal.

We told you Monday about the annual Big Bend Bluegrass Festival weekend Friday and Saturday but it actually kicks off on Thursday at the Ritchey Hotel.
The revised Ritchey will host the Hillbilly Fever Bluegrass Band starting at 8.
Hillbilly Fever is described as a hard-driving traditional Bluegrass band made up of seasoned musicians with varied backgrounds and has performed from the East to the West coast.
Also at the Ritchey, the Edgar Loudermilk Band will end the weekend festivities with a Sunday Brunch starting at noon.

The Chihuahua Desert Research Institute begins its educational programs later this month with presentations for elementary school students.
“The Earth Rocks” will be for fifth graders on October 25 and 26 and “Herp Day” for fourth
graders is on November 8 and 9.

El Ritchey albergará a Hillbilly Fever Bluegrass Band a partir de las 8.
Hillbilly Fever se describe como una banda tradicional de Bluegrass compuesta por músicos experimentados con diversos orígenes y que ha actuado desde la costa este hasta la costa oeste.
También en el Ritchey, la banda Edgar Loudermilk finalizará las festividades del fin de semana con un almuerzo dominical a partir del mediodía.
