As part of their annual effort to bring Christmas joy to children across the world, the Hillside Baptist Church in Alpine will soon begin accepting donations for its donation drive, Operation Christmas Child.
The event is part of a national effort – led by Franklin Graham, son of the well-known evangelist Billy Graham. As part of Operation Christmas Child, people fill a shoebox with goods to send to needy children across the world.
Karen McGuire is with Hillside Baptist Church. She spoke with KVLF about the donation drive and what people could fill shoeboxes with.
MCGUIRE1: “They try to ask for, ask for a ‘wow’ gift like a soccer ball. You order the deflated – number four soccer ball is a good one that fits in here. Or a doll or a stuffed animal. And then small blankets that you can roll up. Toy cars, jump ropes, yo-yos, things that light up – you can have extra batteries in there. Toothbrushes, socks. Anything a kid would like.” (0:22)
You’ll soon be able to pick up boxes at the church. And some will also be available at the KVLF studios.
