Transcript:

The Alpine City Council will meet tomorrow for the third week in a row for final action on the
budget and tax rate for Fiscal Year 2025, which starts October 1.

The 17-point-3 million-dollar budget was approved on second and final reading last week but
tomorrow’s action is on an amendment to that budget.
It would provide repealing and severability clauses, a Texas Open Meetings Act clause and an
election date.
The budget had to be approved before the tax rate so tomorrow’s action will be final approval of
the tax rate of point-439205 dollars per 100-dollar assessed valuation.
In other action, Council will be asked to approve a contract with Brewster County to include a
City Charter amendment to the November 5 General election.
City elections are generally in May but the charter amendments called for the November ballot.
Also on the agenda is a proclamation naming the week beginning tomorrow as Constitutional
Week as prompted by the Daughters of the American Republic.
Fire Chief James Etchison will present a status report on the Alpine Volunteer Fire Department
and approval is sought for the appointment of Mark Hannan to the Parks and Recreation Board.
The meeting will be at 5:30 tomorrow in the City Council Chambers at 803 West Holland
Avenue.

The Alpine Police Department will have another blood drive later this month at the police station
parking lot at 309 West Sul Ross Avenue.

It will be from 9 to 1 on Tuesday, September 24, and 11 to 3 on Wednesday, September 25.

chance to win one of five 5-thousand-dollar gift cards.

other activities in Alpine.

non-payment.
To avoid the fees, utility payments must be made by 4 p.m. Wednesday September 25.
Customers can make payments at the payment drop box outside of City Hall, in-person inside or

The Alpine Police Department has posted on Facebook that it had received a report of illegal
dumping at the Kokernot Baseball Field.

If you know who is responsible for this or if you see someone doing it anywhere in Alpine, you
should report it and, yes, you can remain anonymous.
Help them to prevent this behavior and help keep Alpine beautiful.
