Tomorrow (TUESDAY) is election day – and Texans will have their say on 17 constitutional amendments. The propositions up for vote range from property tax cuts and water infrastructure funding to bail reform.

A reminder – before you vote, you’ll want to check your voter registration for your polling location.

In Brewster County, voters in Precinct 1 will cast their ballot at the Assembly of God Fellowship Hall, located at 1802 N Hwy 118. Voters in Precinct 2 and 8 will vote at the Judge Val Clark Beard office on North 7th street. Precinct 3 voters will head to the Marathon Community Center while voters in Precinct 4 will head to the Alpine Civic Center and Precincts 5, 6 and 7 will vote at the JW “Red” Pattillo community center in Study Butte.

All polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day tomorrow (TUESDAY).

Tomorrow (TUESDAY), the Alpine City Council will meet for a workshop and regular council meeting. 

The workshop begins Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m., and will focus on the city budget and amendments the council wants to make to it. 

Afterwards, the council meets for a regularly scheduled meeting, where they’re set to approve those amendments, including one for water infrastructure improvements.

According to an agenda for the meeting, the council will also discuss the plans for the city to work with Alpine ISD on improvements to Manuel Payne field at Kokernot Park. 

The council will also discuss the still vacant city manager position. That discussion will happen in executive session, which is not open to the public.

The Alpine Public Library invites children 8 years and older for an arts and crafts day, where they’ll make their own trading cards.

Local artist Beth Dixon will lead the class. It takes place Nov. 18 at the library from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.

Later this month (NOVEMBER), Art Walk returns to Alpine, and will transform the town into a living gallery full of art, music and community. 

As West Texas’ longest-running art festival, Artwalk invites locals and visitors to experience the spirit of Alpine through murals, sculptures, photography, and live performances.

This year’s featured artist for the event is Yosdy Valdivia, a visual artist in Presidio known for her evocative paintings and dreamlike landscapes.

The two day event is Nov. 21 and 22.

Also this month (NOVEMBER), the Big Bend Border Enforcement Security Task Force will host the inaugural Badges and Bogeys golf scramble.

The event is a fundraiser for the Blue and Brown Santa. The group is looking for three-person scramble teams to compete in the tournament. Registration is $225 per team and includes dinner and two drink tickets. The top team will win a cash prize, and there will be prizes for the person who hits the longest drive and the person who gets closest to the hole. 

The event is Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Alpine Country Club.
