Tomorrow is the last day that Marfa’s El Cosmico will be open. The popular hotel and camping grounds is set to close as its owner prepares to build a new location.
Earlier this Spring, the hotel said that it will close its original location on July 1 – the place they’ve been at for the last 15 years.
El Cosmico was already planning to move on from the location. In 2023, they announced that they were going to build a new, larger facility, with 3D printed homes and hotel rooms. They now expect that location, just off Antelope Hills Road near Marfa, to open to the public in 2027

The Big Bend Arts Council is looking for artists to contribute to its next show, “Clay Works” which opens in August.
The artwork must be original, handcrafted by the artist and consist of at least 75% fired clay. Artists have until July 29 to submit up to three pieces. Other rules for submission say the artwork must have been completed within the last two years, and art in a BBAC show will not be accepted.
A reception for the event is Friday, August 1.
