The Alpine City Council meets tomorrow to consider, among other agenda items, a city leadership transition plan.
The discussion comes after last week when council members accepted Megan Antrim’s resignation as city manager. Council also voted to appoint city secretary Geo Calderon as the interim city manager.
Council is also set to discuss the job description for the city manager position and recommend updates prior to posting the position.
City council meets Tuesday, June 17 at 5:30 at 803 W. Holland Avenue.

The Brewster County Groundwater Conservation District holds its regular meeting this week.
Among other items on the agenda is a discussion and potential action related to newly ordered monitoring equipment and where to install it.
The conservation district, which manages groundwater resources in the county, meets on Thursday, June 19.

This week, the Sul Ross Department of Visual and Performing Arts presents the musical “Next to Normal.”
The show tells the story of a suburban mother who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder brought on by a past family trauma. Her family struggles to cope with her condition and their own mental health.
The musical opens Friday, June 20 starting at 7:30 p.m. with following performances are Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for seniors and children. Admission is free for veterans.

Last weekend’s “Smoke in the Mountains BBQ and Ribeye Shootout” was a huge success!
This year, the annual event brought together 60 BBQ teams from across the state with the Jeff Davis County Courthouse serving as the backdrop for this one-of-a-kind competition.
The event raised $28,000 and organizers want to thank the sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who came out to support and enjoy the festivities.

This summer, Ballroom Marfa will open a new exhibit called “Los Encuentros” – it’s a collection of work by several artists focusing on the QUOTE “elevation of materials from everyday life.”
The exhibition’s artists work in combining various art styles – from painting and sculpture to installation.
The opening reception for “Los Encuentros” is July 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. Ballroom Marfa is located at 108 E. San Antonio St.
