Later this month (JUNE), county officials will hold a hearing on whether to move forward with an election to create an emergency services district.
The move comes after several months of work from city and county officials to figure out how to provide emergency services in the northern half of Brewster County since the contract with the current EMS provider isn’t being renewed.
If approved, the district would collect taxes to fund those emergency services.
The hearing is set for June 16 at 9:30 a.m. at the Brewster County Courthouse. It’s open to the public and anyone who attends can weigh in on whether they believe the emergency services district should be created.
