Monday, July 28th Morning News

Transcript:

Brewster County officials are holding a special meeting where they’ll review and discuss – and potentially take action on – the county budget.

That commissioner’s meeting takes place Tuesday, July 29 at the county courthouse beginning at 9:30 a.m.

As the state’s lawmakers consider redrawing congressional maps during a special legislative session, some are condemning the effort.

As the Texas Tribune reports, the unusual attempt to redraw congressional boundaries in the state comes after pressure from President Donald Trump, who wants to boost the GOP’s slim majority in the U.S. House ahead of the midterms.

The West Texas public hearing on the effort will be tomorrow (TUESDAY). State Senator Cesar Blanco – whose district includes parts of the Big Bend – is calling for people to register for the hearing. You can find the link to register at Sen. Blanco’s Instagram.

This week, the Small Business Development Center at Sul Ross State University in Alpine will host a training session on marketing with a small budget.

In this workshop, you’ll learn what mistakes to avoid, how to build a cohesive marketing plan that creates impact, and the secret weapon to budget marketing that works.

The training session is Wednesday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to noon.
