Alpine City Hall will be closed until Thursday, January 2, in observance of the Christmas- New
Year holiday.

During these closures, citizens experiencing an emergency should call 911 and for non-
emergency but urgent issues, call the police non-emergency line at 837-3486.
You can still make payments at the city drop box outside City Hall on Holland Avenue and, if
you’ve registered, make payments online at cityofalpine.com


And the City is seeking non-profit organizations and clubs for the sponsorship of the 2025-26
Mountain Country Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair at the Alpine Civic Center.

Interested organizations may submit a Sponsorship Application to City Hall at 100 North 13 th
Street by 5 on January 17.
The City Council will select the event sponsor during the regularly-scheduled council meeting on
February 4.

Sixteen Education students at Sul Ross State University have been initiated into the Zeta Delta
Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society.

Marfa Independent School District Superintendent Arturo Alferez gave the keynote address at
the ceremony.
Kappa Delta Pi was founded to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among
those dedicated to teaching.
Some of the members include Albert Einstein, George Washington Carver, Eleanor Roosevelt,
and Margaret Mead.
They are just a few of the members who have made outstanding contributions to the
development of professional education.

For more than a century, the society has consistently grown to become the international
organization it is today, with an initiated membership that exceeds 1.2 million scholars.
Dr. Jeanne Qvarnstrom, professor of Education at Sul Ross, is the chapter
counselor and Luis Sandoval is the chapter president.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar has reminded Texans that the deadline to apply for Texas Match the
Promise Foundation scholarship awards is December 31.

The scholarships are available for third through ninth graders who are enrolled in the Texas
Tuition Promise Fund, the state’s prepaid college tuition plan.
Families that have an adjusted gross income of 120 thousand dollars or less and who are Texas
residents and dependents of Texas residents qualify for the program.
Applicants can use the online application system at MatchThePromise.org)or download an
application form to mail.
Families who do not have a Promise Fund account can find information about establishing one at
TuitionPromise.org

And the Alpine Avalanche reports that the Holy Angels Cemetery will host this year’s New
Year’s Eve dance from 8 to 12:30 December 31at the Granada Theater.

Tickets are 35 dollar per person and table reservations are available now. Tables for a group of
eight are 175 dollars.
