Tomorrow (TUESDAY), Brewster County officials hold the next county commissioners court.
According to an agenda for the meeting, commissioners are set to review and discuss a resolution over the proposed border wall adopted recently by the county’s historical commission.
Commissioners are also set to receive an update from the county’s tourism department and the emergency management department along with other county offices too.
Commissioners Court meets Tuesday, April 28 at 9:30 a.m. at the Brewster County courthouse.

On Tuesday, Sul Ross State University will host a donor registration drive. The event gives people the chance to join the national registry of potential bone marrow and stem cell donors to help fight blood cancer.
To be eligible for the registry, you must be between 18 and 55 years old, and be in general good health. Additional screening information will be available on-site for participants who wish
to learn more about the registration process.
The event is open to the public and will be held Tuesday, April 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the
University Center Mall.

This week, the city of Alpine and the Texas Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting to hear about transportation needs and concerns within the city.
TxDOT is looking for public input on a mobility plan it’s putting together for the city. The department is looking to hear what you consider to be Alpine’s primary corridors, what the key transportation concerns, what safety issues you have, pedestrian and bicycle needs, and rail crossings.
The meeting will be Thursday, April 30 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the city council chambers.

Next month, Alpine Fire Rescue is hosting their annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser.
The dinner will be prepared and served by Alpine Firefighters – and plates are $12 each.
Proceeds from the event will go to Alpine Fire Rescue, and table donations will go toward the AVFD Junior Fire program.
Tickets can be purchased from any Alpine Firefighter, or at Traci’s Vapor Emporium.
The spaghetti dinner will be May 2 at the American Legion in Alpine from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m

The local nonprofit Alpine Community Projects is hosting a meet up for people that own short-term rentals in the city.
The group is looking to connect with rental owners as part of its goal for supporting, energizing and undertaking projects that help Alpine flourish.
The event happens May 4 at 4:30 p.m. at the Old School House.

Next month (MAY), Brewster County will hold its annual countrywide cleanup event.
Brewster County trucks will visit several locations in the county and will accept your junk and rubbish. Some of what the county will pick up include furniture and household items, mattresses and bedding, some appliances, yard waste and tires. A separate trailer for tires will be available. All tires must have the wheels and rims removed.
The first bulk pickup in Terlingua on May 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Road and Bridge Yard on FM170.
The next county pick up will be on May 9 in Marathon in Alpine from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Marathon pickup will be at the Road and Bridge Yard on North Albert St., and the pickup in Alpine will be at the landfill.
