That morning at 10:00 a.m., the library will host an improv story time with Davidson and invite children to create an original story and a group illustration. And later that day, at 1 p.m., Davidson will talk about what it’s like to be a professional artist and narrate the items on exhibit.
Davidson is the writer of two children’s books and illustrator of six books.

Starting next week, you can schedule a bulk trash pick-up with the city of Alpine.
The city will haul your trash away the first week of June, and you’ll have from Monday, May 25 to Friday, May 29 before noon to schedule your pick up.
Each household is limited to 5 items or 3 cubic yards worth items to be picked up.

Later this summer, Sul Ross State University will bring together educators, school leaders and community members for the Science of STEM Literacy Conference.
The event will go over teaching strategies, learning practices and how STEM literacy is changing in the age of artificial intelligence.
The conference will be Monday, July 13 at the Espino Conference Center at Sul Ross. The event’s fre and open to educators and the public although registration is required.

Alpine ISD’s summer food program for kids kicks off next week.
Starting Monday, May 26 the district will offer lunch at Alpine High School for anyone 18 and under or 21 and under with a disability.
Lunch will be served from 12:00 to 12:45, Monday through Thursday all summer long.
The district says the menu will change daily and will include a variety of options, from corndogs and pizza to chicken sandwiches and fresh fruit and veggies.

The Big Bend Arts Council is calling on all artists to submit work for their next show “Landscapes, Near and Far.”
The show’s theme – any original artwork that is landscape in theme or open media. The take-in deadline for the show is June 2 at Big Bend Gallery, located at 121 W. Holland Ave. Artwork may be brought in before the end of the workday, the gallery’s open Thursday through Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
An opening reception for the show is Friday, June 5 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the gallery.

At the end of the month (MAY), Big Bend Telephone will host their third annual golf tournament at the Alpine Country Club.
The tournament is a three-person scramble with 27 overall teams competing for the top spot. Entry is $85 per person and proceeds benefit the Alpine Humane Society.
The scramble is May 30 with tee off beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Más adelante este verano, la Universidad Estatal Sul Ross reunirá a educadores, líderes escolares y miembros de la comunidad para la Conferencia sobre la Ciencia de la Alfabetización STEM.
El evento abordará estrategias de enseñanza, prácticas de aprendizaje y la forma en que la alfabetización STEM está evolucionando en la era de la inteligencia artificial.

El programa de alimentación de verano para niños del Distrito Escolar Independiente de Alpine (Alpine ISD) dará comienzo la próxima semana.
A partir del lunes 26 de mayo, el distrito ofrecerá almuerzos en la Escuela Preparatoria Alpine (Alpine High School) a cualquier persona de 18 años o menos, o de 21 años o menos si cuenta con alguna discapacidad.
El almuerzo se servirá de 12:00 a 12:45 p. m., de lunes a jueves, durante todo el verano.
El distrito informa que el menú cambiará a diario e incluirá una variedad de opciones, desde *corn dogs* y pizza hasta sándwiches de pollo, así como frutas y verduras frescas.

El Consejo de las Artes de Big Bend (Big Bend Arts Council) hace un llamado a todos los artistas para que presenten sus obras para su próxima exposición titulada “Landscapes, Near and Far” (Paisajes: Cerca y Lejos).
