David Eric Molinar, a beloved son, brother, father, and cherished member of the Alpine community has passed away. He was 53.
Born in Alpine, David graduated from Marfa High School in Marfa, before pursuing higher education at the University of Houston. On top of his studies, David was also a passionate running back, proudly wearing the number 35 jersey.
Along with football, he enjoyed playing rugby and was an enthusiastic supporter of Houston’s professional sports teams—the Texans, the Rockets, and the Astros.
As the founder and operator of “A+ Premium Movers,” David infused his work with the same passion and dedication that marked his personal life. His business was more than a pursuit of livelihood, it was a way for him to connect with people.
Known for his quick wit and humor, David could always be counted on to share a joke or lift the spirits in the room. He was also deeply rooted in his Catholic faith. His beliefs shaped a life committed to kindness, laughter, and service.
David treasured Christmastime, taking in the first snow each winter as a magical moment to gather and create lasting memories. Simple joys like savoring his mother’s home-cooked meals or capturing precious moments with his camera brought him immense happiness.
David leaves behind a legacy of love through those closest to him: his parents, his four sisters and his daughter.
The community will gather to honor David’s life with a visitation next month (JUNE) on June 3 from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m., followed by a rosary at 9:30 a.m., and a mass at 10:00 a.m.
All services will take place at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
The day will conclude with an inurnment at Holy Angels Cemetery beginning at 12:15 p.m., a sacred moment where family, friends, and loved ones will say their final farewell.

Stage 4 water restrictions are still in place in the city of Alpine.
The mandatory limits are for residents that receive water directly from the city’s water system. The measures restrict residents from using water for outdoor irrigation, landscape watering, washing vehicles, driveways, sidewalks, or other paved surfaces, and generally limit water usage to essential health and safety needs only.
Residents and businesses may continue to use private wells, rainwater catchment systems, stored rainwater and other non-municipal water sources that aren’t connected to the city.
The city put the limits in place after a municipal well failed earlier this month (MAY).
Officials are moving forward with drilling a new well for the city. They expect it to be online within the next three to four weeks.

Alpine ISD will soon offer used turf from Buck Stadium to community members. The giveaway is part of the district’s renovation efforts to the field.
The rolls are approximately 20 x 40-feet long and weigh close to 1,800 pounds. Pick up and transportation are the responsibility of the recipient.
Any person or organization interested in a roll of used turf can inquire about the offer by filling out a form at tinyurl.com/BuckStadiumTurf.

In other Alpine ISD news, the district is looking for local business partners for its Summer 2026 Internship Initiative.
As part of the program, Alpine ISD will provide student payroll, program coordination and support, and will help place students with the right internship. Businesses involved will provide a positive work experience and supervision and mentorship.

Later this month (MAY), the Jeff Davis County Library in Fort Davis presents a day with Rachel Más Davidson.
On Tuesday, May 26 at 10 a.m. the library will host an improv story time with Davidson and invite children to create an original story and a group illustration. And later that day, at 1 p.m., Davidson will talk about what it’s like to be a professional artist and narrate the items on exhibit.
Davidson is the writer of two children’s books and illustrator of six books.

At the end of the month (MAY), the Alpine Cowboys baseball season kicks off with the Home Run 5K and 10K at Kokernot Field.
The race takes place Saturday, May 23. And whether you enter the 5K or 10K, you’ll reach the finish line at home plate with the Cowboys team cheering you on. The 10K race starts that morning at 9:00 with the 5K run starting at 9:15.
Water, fruit, and your finisher medal will be waiting for you at the finish line!

David Eric Molinar, un amado hijo, hermano, padre y miembro muy querido de la comunidad de Alpine, ha fallecido. Tenía 53 años.
Nacido en Alpine, David se graduó de la Escuela preparatoria de Marfa antes de cursar estudios superiores en la Universidad de Houston. Además de sus estudios, David fue un apasionado *running back*, portando con orgullo la camiseta con el número 35.
Junto con el fútbol americano, disfrutaba jugando al rugby y era un entusiasta seguidor de los equipos deportivos profesionales de Houston: los Texans, los Rockets y los Astros.
David deja tras de sí un legado de amor a través de sus seres más cercanos: sus padres, sus cuatro hermanas y su hija.
La comunidad se reunirá para honrar la vida de David con una visita de despedida el próximo mes, el 3 de junio, de 9:00 a 9:30 a.m.; a continuación, se rezará un rosario a las 9:30 a.m., seguido de una misa a las 10:00 a.m.

Las restricciones de agua de Etapa 4 continúan vigentes en la ciudad de Alpine.
Estos límites obligatorios se aplican a los residentes que reciben el suministro de agua directamente del sistema hídrico de la ciudad. Las medidas prohíben a los residentes utilizar agua para el riego de exteriores, el mantenimiento de jardines y áreas verdes, el lavado de vehículos, entradas de vehículos, aceras u otras superficies pavimentadas; y, en términos generales, limitan el uso del agua exclusivamente a las necesidades esenciales de salud y seguridad.
Tanto los residentes como las empresas pueden seguir utilizando pozos privados, sistemas de recolección de agua de lluvia, agua de lluvia almacenada y otras fuentes de agua no municipales que no estén conectadas a la red de la ciudad.
La ciudad implementó estos límites después de que uno de los pozos municipales sufriera una avería a principios de este mes (mayo).
Las autoridades están avanzando con la perforación de un nuevo pozo para la ciudad, el cual esperan que entre en funcionamiento en un plazo de tres a cuatro semanas.

Como parte del programa, el Alpine ISD se encargará de la nómina de los estudiantes, la coordinación y el apoyo del programa, y ayudará a asignar a los estudiantes a la pasantía adecuada. Las empresas participantes brindarán una experiencia laboral positiva, así como supervisión y mentoría.

Más adelante este mes (MAYO), la Biblioteca del Condado de Jeff Davis en Fort Davis presenta una jornada con Rachel Más Davidson.
El martes 26 de mayo, a las 10:00 a. m., la biblioteca organizará una sesión de cuentacuentos de improvisación con Davidson e invitará a los niños a crear una historia original y una ilustración colectiva. A finales de este mes (mayo), la temporada de béisbol de los Alpine Cowboys dará inicio con la carrera “Home Run 5K y 10K” en el Kokernot Field.
