Funeral and burial services for Silvestra Lara Molinar of Fort Davis will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Fort Davis.
She died at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa Saturday at the age of 92.
Silvestra was born on January 30, 1931, in Fort Davis and finished fourth grade, then continued to practice and improve by reading the Bible and newspapers.
She made a living as a self-employed housekeeper and was married to Florencio “Lencho” Molinar.
Silvestra was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
Surviving are her husband, a son, a daughter, a brother, a sister, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

The historic Ritchey Hotel on Murphy Street got new life Tuesday when the City Council approved a special use permit to allow the new owners to again open a bar there.
Alpine historian David Keller told a public hearing that he and Anne Calaway bought the building and hope to bring back a popular music venue in the building and courtyard.
City Tourism Director Chris Ruggia, who also has the popular band The Swifts, strongly backed the action saying the wine bar and courtyard had been one of the best music venues in the city.
Mattie Matthaei had opened the bar as part of a plan to restore the building but lost the business to foreclosure because of the Covid Pandemic in 2020.
Keller said the hotel opened in about 1886 and was one of the last low-cost hotels catering to cowboys and other working-class people into the early 20th Century.
Sam Stavinoa of Marathon, who operates the French Grocery, said his team plans to reopen the bar. He said beer is not the life of the party, the people are.
Chisos Brewery bought the building to be part of its proposed craft beer business but agreed to sell it when estimates for its restoration came in higher than anticipated.
In a meeting that lasted nearly four hours, the council spent more than one hour debating the annexation of property around the Skyway Gardens apartment complex south of the city.
Questions arose over plans to pave Lechuguilla Road and flood control on the property and it was finally postponed for more negotiations.
The council also postponed approving a contract with Brewster County to create the Emergency Services Board to operate the Alpine Volunteer Fire Department.
But it did approve the appointment of the city’s three members of the board, Aaron Rodriguez, Stacey Wood and Albert Benitez.
Alpine Independent School District has announced the Pre-Kinder and Kinder Round-up for the 2023-24 school year scheduled Monday at the Elementary School.
Sul Ross State University named two fully-funded scholarships in honor of two Uvalde teachers who lost their lives defending school children in the 2022 Uvalde tragedy.
Irma Linda Garcia and Eva Mireles were both Sul Ross graduates and both received Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies.
The scholarships for undergraduate students amount to one thousand dollars each per year and are available to Education majors at campuses in Del Rio, Eagle Pass and Uvalde.
The deadline to apply is June 15 through the Sul Ross scholarship portal at sulross.awardspring.com.
This year’s observance of Cinco de Mayo was packed with activities in Alpine, highlighted with the annual parade.
First place float in the parade was the Nueva Generacion Grupo Folklorico from Terlingua School.
The Mystic Gitanas dance team took second and third went to the Big Bend Regional Medical Center.

Irma Linda García y Eva Mireles se graduaron de Sul Ross y ambas recibieron títulos de Licenciatura en Artes en Estudios Interdisciplinarios.
Las becas para estudiantes de pregrado ascienden a mil dólares cada una por año y están disponibles para las carreras de Educación en los campus de Del Rio, Eagle Pass y Uvalde.

La observancia del Cinco de Mayo de este año estuvo repleta de actividades en Alpine, destacadas con el desfile anual.

El equipo de baile Mystic Gitanas obtuvo el segundo lugar y el tercero fue para el Centro Médico Regional de Big Bend.
