Praying of the Most Holy Rosary for Myrtle Ann Greenough Wallis of Alpine will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian burial will follow with Father Pablo Matta and internment will be at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Myrtle Ann, or Myrt as she was known, was born June 22, 1938, in Billings, Montana, and grew up on ranches in Montana and Wyoming.
She attended the University of Wyoming where she loved drama and was an actress in several plays in college. She married Earl Richard Wallis on February 9, 1957.
In 2014, the family came to Texas for the winter and then returned to Wyoming. But they moved permanently to Alpine in 2015 and bought a home in Sunny Glenn.
Over the years, Myrt was involved in many things, including owning a clothing store, a realtor and stockbroker as well as a rancher. She was a master gardener, a published poet and an artist.
Myrt was preceded in death by a brother, a daughter and a grandson. Surviving are her husband, a son, a daughter, a sister, four brothers, 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Some citizens near Murphy Street have circulated a petition opposing the proposed Chisos Brewery planned for Murphy and 3rd Streets in Alpine.
Residents Nancy Davila, Lonnie Rodriguez and Paula Wilson expressed concerns about parking, environmental issues and even building heights.
They claimed the two-story brewery would block views of Sul Ross from south-side homes along with parking and environmental issues.
Chisos owners Guy and Lisa Fielder and their son Tim, who will be the brewmaster, met with the group last week and have compiled a detailed response.
Parking will include a lot across the street with more than required numbers of spaces and odors, amounts of waste generated and other questions all have been addressed in detail.
The two-story brewery still will allow residents to see the university and other Alpine views with little blockage, they said.
Copies of the response also were sent to city staff, City Councilors and area news media.
Lisa Fielder told us any number of communities would happily welcome a two-million-dollar micro-brewery to their economic development efforts.
More than 15 hundred fans attended the second “in person” presentation of the Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering February 18 and 19 in Alpine.
They came from 30 states as well as Israel and Germany.
The total includes paid ticketholders, free session attendees, performers, volunteers and staff, with as many as 20 percent of them first-time attendees.
They bought more than 33 hundred tickets to individual shows and meals.
These numbers compare to 960 people buying 21 hundred tickets at Lone Star’s first in-person Gathering in 2020.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Gathering went “virtual” in 2021 through the production of two feature films.
The ticket sales are higher than numbers of people because many, if not most, bought tickets to more than one show.
An undetermined number came and attended non-ticketed shows and never registered, indicating total attendance is likely higher than officially tabulated.
The Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering was formed in 2019, after the Texas Cowboy Poetry Gathering ended its successful 33-year run.
