Viva Big Bend, the annual tri-county music festival, has returned for its 15th year.
The five-day event will bring some 45 bands across over 20 different venues across the Big Bend region.
One of the new additions this year is a VIP package for fest goers.
Stewart Ramser is the festival’s organizer:
RAMSER1: “We bundled in with some lodging to offer people one-stop shop for their weekend and have some really cool shows happening at the Gage and Cibolo – with some great acts: Bob Schneider, Jackopierce, Walt Wilkins and Brandon Rhyder, Silverada.” (0:20)
One of this year’s venues includes the Railroad Blues in Alpine, which had been closed for a while but is reopening for the fest.
RAMSER2: “Everything’s going to be in place and they’re brewing some beer over there and it’s going to be a big weekend at the blues.” (0:07)

There is one last chance to catch Sul Ross’ performance of “School House Rock Live!” at the Kokernot Outdoor Theatre.
The final performance, which was set to be Sunday, was rained out – and has now been moved to tomorrow (THURSDAY) night.
Marjorie Scott is the producer of the show. She told KVLF earlier today (WEDNESDAY) that the group was set on having one last hurrah.
SCOTT1: “Everyone, I think, working on the show has really enjoyed working on it and wanted to do it again. It was sad to not get to do closing. So anyway, everyone agreed. And so we’re doing a Thursday show this week. That’s good and it’s going to be at 8 o’clock? 8 o’clock – same time, same place.” (0:14)
The rescheduled performance of “School House Rock Live!” takes place at the Kokernot Outdoor Theatre beginning at 8:00 p.m.

Registration for the upcoming school year with Alpine ISD is now open – and there’s just about a week left to get your student enrolled, whether at the elementary, middle or high school.
All you need to do is head to alpine.esc18.net/registration for all the information you need to get through the registration process.

This weekend, the annual Marfa Golf Classic – a two person scramble challenge – takes place at the “highest course in Texas.”
The first place prize in the competition is $1,300, second place gets $750 and third place wins $550.
You can register online at marfagolf.com or by calling Eddie Pallarez at 432-295-3105. Registration includes daily lunch. Registration is $400 per team.
The two-day event takes place Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2. Tee times are 8:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. respectively.

Next month (AUGUST), head to the Alpine Public Library to watch a livestream of a summertime concert put on by the Seattle Chamber Music Society.
Catch a delayed stream of the performance, which will feature Haydn (HAY-den), Respighi (reh-spee-ghee), and Dvorak (duh-vor-AK) – on Sunday, August 2 at 4:00 p.m.
The location to watch the performance will be the community room of the Alpine Public Library. Entrance to the community room is on the north side of the building.

The annual event encourages bibliophiles to celebrate literature and the joy of reading.
The celebration takes place Sunday, August 9.

Viva Big Bend, el festival de música anual que abarca tres condados, ha regresado para celebrar su 15.ª edición.
El evento, de cinco días de duración, contará con la participación de unas 45 bandas que actuarán en más de 20 sedes distintas de la región de Big Bend.
Una de las novedades de este año es un paquete VIP para los asistentes al festival.

Queda una última oportunidad para ver la representación de “School House Rock Live!” de Sul Ross en el teatro al aire libre Kokernot (Kokernot Outdoor Theatre).
La función final, prevista originalmente para el domingo, tuvo que cancelarse debido a la lluvia y se ha reprogramado para mañana jueves por la noche.
Marjorie Scott, productora del espectáculo, declaró hoy miércoles a KVLF que el grupo estaba decidido a ofrecer una última función.
cito: “Creo que todos los que participan en el espectáculo han disfrutado mucho del trabajo y querían volver a hacerlo. Fue una lástima no poder realizar la función de clausura. Así que todos estuvieron de acuerdo y vamos a presentar la obra este jueves. ¿A las 8 en punto? Sí, a las 8: misma hora, mismo lugar”.
La función reprogramada de “School House Rock Live!” tendrá lugar en el teatro al aire libre Kokernot a partir de las 8:00 p. m.
