Services for Tana Williams Stringfellow of Alpine will be Monday at Alpine Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. She died Saturday.
A visitation will be at 8 with a funeral service to follow at 9.
Tana was born in Marfa on April 24, 1955, and attended school there until fourth grade when the family moved to Van Horn where Tana graduated High School in 1973.
After high school, she moved to Fort Worth and later to Florida where she began her distinguished paralegal career.
Among other honors, Tana was bestowed the distinguished award 2002 Paralegal of the Year Runner-Up by law magazine Legal Assistant Today.
In 2009, she became a member of the Executive Committee of the Paralegal Association of Florida where she served until 2011.
Tana retired in 2018 and moved back to Alpine where she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and served on the Family Crisis Center board.
She later started back to work at Big Bend Title Company.
She is survived by a daughter and a brother.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Family Crisis Center of Big Bend, The National Diabetes Association or charity of choice.
The Alpine Independent School District has received a perfect score of 100, or “Superior,” on its annual state FIRST report, for Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas.
The School Board met in the High School Band Room Wednesday and reviewed the report before breaking for dinner in the cafeteria celebrating Board Appreciation Month.
The report gave the full score possible in 20 categories, the first four of which are critical for passing the report.
Categories rate the district for financial practices including a “clean” audit report with no “findings” of problems.
It also measures how well the district did in financial issues such as plenty of reserve cash on hand, timely payment of bills, financial solvency and others.
The test is given each year to every school system in Texas.
Before breaking for dinner early in the agenda, the board heard kudos from school principals and others about their dedication to the district.
Many classrooms also gathered gifts for each board member and senior staff, including Superintendent Dr. Michelle Rinehart.
The 80 th Annual Big Bend Livestock Association Show and Sale ended over the weekend with some 323 thousand dollars in sales of show animals.
The Alpine Avalanche reports Thursday that the Grand Champion was awarded to Gracie Boultinghouse with the Fort Davis Future Farmers of American.
The Reserve Grand Champion went to Rynn Matthews from the Twin Peaks 4-H club.
After the goat show and lamb shows, the Grand Champion was awarded to Wyatt Renfroe of Twin Peaks 4-H and Reserve Grand Champion to Rode Babb of Alpine F.F.A.
At the steer show, Talynn Stieg of Alpine F.F.A. was awarded Grand Champion and Hunter Stieg of Alpine F.F.A. received Reserve Grand Champion.
The horse show saw Dakota McCarthy winning Grand Champion mare and Reserve Grand Champion mare went to Reese Coleman.
Lauren Aragon won the Grand Champion gelding and the Reserve Grand Champion gelding went to Reese Coleman.
At the swine show, the Grand Champion was awarded to Kevin Perez of the Fort Davis F.F.A. and the Reserve Grand Champion was Skylar Hernandez from the Fort Davis F.F.A.
