The Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a Beatles Rooftop Last Concert Tribute later this month with “An Afternoon with Rubber Revolver.”
The singing group is a Beatles tribute band based in Pasadena, California.
Beatles fans will experience the tribute concert to the legendary band’s final rooftop concert at their multi-media corporate office in London in 1969.
The tribute concert will be Sunday, January 29, on the elevated patio of Hotel Limpia with all The Beatles’ greatest hits.
It will begin at 3 and will feature performances of classic songs such as “Let It Be” and “A Hard Day’s Night.” Dancing off the winter blues will be encouraged.
Attendees also will be able to enjoy a Blue Mountain Café appetizer or entrée along with libations at the hotel’s patio bar.
The gates will open to Hotel Limpia’s courtyard at 2:30 and a five-dollar donation will be collected at the gate.

The Alpine Downtown Association, doing business as the Alpine Business Alliance, will have an election of officers at its next meeting at 1:30 Wednesday, January 25.
It adopted the A.B.A. name last year because some felt they could not participate if they were not located downtown.
The mission statement says the association understands the entire community benefits from a robust downtown business district but some were not comfortable with the downtown name.
Officers to be elected are president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. The new slate will serve until January, 2024.
The meeting will be in-person at the Alcove Social at 211 East Holland Avenue next to Granada Theatre. It also will be carried virtually via zoom.

The Big Bend Sentinel reports border crossings at the remote crossing into Boquillas in Big Bend National Park set a new record of more than 2,5000 visitors in December.
The crossing into the village across from Rio Grande Village had been open before the events of 9-11 in September, 2001, in the attack on New York and Washington.
It closed then and reopened years later as a remotely-controlled crossing and then closed again during the pandemic for nearly two years but reopened in November, 2021.
The remote port of entry is open during winter hours from 9 to 4 Wednesdays through Sundays.
Crossing is by rowboat or on foot and those entering the U.S. check in at a small facility on the U.S. side and scan their documents and talk to Customs agents by remote hookup.
Alpine Tourism Director Chris Ruggia has invited event planners to the next calendar session to lay out regional event dates for the next 12 months.
It will be in the Holland Hotel lobby as usual, at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24.
Ruggia asks those who can’t make it to send their event dates for the next year and he will compile them to share with everyone.
The city helps advertise local events outside the area with Hotel Occupancy Taxes, assessed on room nights for guests of hotels, motels and short-term rentals.
The tax must, in the words of the state law, be used to “put heads in beds” by increasing room rentals for those attending the events.

La Cámara de Comercio de Fort Davis ha programado un último concierto tributo a los Beatles en la azotea a finales de este mes con “An Afternoon with Rubber Revolver”.
El grupo de canto es una banda tributo a los Beatles con sede en Pasadena, California.

La Asociación del Centro de Alpine, que opera como Alpine Business Alliance, tendrá una elección de funcionarios en su próxima reunión a la 1:30 el miércoles 25 de enero.
Adoptó el nombre A.B.A. el año pasado porque algunos sintieron que no podían participar si no estaban ubicados en el centro de la ciudad.
La declaración de la misión dice que la asociación entiende que toda la comunidad se beneficia de un sólido distrito comercial en el centro, pero algunos no se sentían cómodos con el nombre del centro.
Los funcionarios por elegir son presidente, vicepresidente, secretario y tesorero. La nueva pizarra servirá hasta enero de 2024.
La reunión será en persona en Alcove Social en 211 East Holland Avenue junto al Teatro Granada. También se llevará a cabo de manera virtual a través de zoom.

El impuesto debe, en palabras de la ley estatal, usarse para “poner cabezas en las camas” aumentando los alquileres de habitaciones para los asistentes a los eventos.
