Alpine ArtWalk has announced the return of it Spirits of the West Wine and Beef Festival scheduled for April 21 and 22 in Alpine.
This festival begins April 21 with the Streetfest on 6th Street with Texas makers of wine, beer, spirits, beef and art then it moves to the Granada Theatre.
There Fly Gap and Chateau Wright will host its first ever Spirits After Dark Kickoff Party with food and wine and entertainment by the funkadelic bands Feline Fox and opener Spicy Loops.
The festival also will feature educational seminars and workshops with experts from the industry presenting on distilling, tastings and food pairing.
The street festival will conclude at 7 Saturday after the doors open at the Granada for Alpine’s Artwalk presenting on distilling, tastings and food pairing.
Tickets for this event are now on sale and a limited number of tickets str available for V.I.P. guests.

Visit Alpine is already looking ahead to their next workshop on April 6 to help local organizations apply for grants and bring tourism to Alpine.
After the workshop Thursday on event execution, closing down streets and cleaning after events, Alpine Tourism Director Chris Ruggia is continuing to plan their next meeting.
The April workshop will cover the grant application process in detail including how Hotel Occupancy Tax funds can be used.
Alpine Tourism Coordinator Heather Yadon said that HOT money is unique since it can only be used in ways that bring tourism to Alpine, which requires a more detailed process.
Yaydon: “Tourists come here and yes, that HOT fund money can’t be used to fix streets and things but sales tax that they spend when they’re here can.”

The Big Bend Sentinel reports the Marfa schools campus is now monitored daily by an armed school resource officer.
Ian Martinez, a 21-year-old who graduated from Marfa High School in 2019, is on duty on campus armed with a gun, taser and handcuffs.
It is the latest in a series of changes to the campus focused on security upgrades as schools across the country have reacted to school shootings and other incidents.
Alpine schools have had S.R.O. officers since a school shooting at Alpine High School in 2016.
The only fatality in that incident was the 14-year-old student who turned the gun on herself after shooting another in the girls’ restroom at the band hall.
The injured student and a deputy hit by a stray bullet both reported minor injuries.
Sul Ross State University will host its community and University Career and Internship Fair at the Granada Theatre from 10 to 2 Thursday.
The fair will include a professional photo shoot, door prizes and networking opportunities for students, alumni and the local community.
Local employers and recruiters who are seeking summer interns can also sign up for a chance to hire attendees.
People will also be able to enjoy music performances by students from the music program of the Department of Fine arts and communication of Sul Ross.

Alpine Independent School District will host a brisket benefit for the Fightin’ Buck Baseball team from 11 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Our lady of Peace Parish Hall at406 South 6th Street.
Support the team for 15 dollars a plate and receive a drink, dessert, sausage, potato salad, beans and fixings with the brisket.
