Services for Alicia Olivares Salazar were scheduled for Tuesday in Sanderson. A lifelong resident of Sanderson, she died Wednesday.
Praying of the Most Holy Rosary was scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church with Mass of Christian burial at 11 by Father Francis Njoku.
Interment was to follow at Santa Rita Cemetery in Sanderson.
Alicia is preceded in death by her husband, Roberto M. Salazar. Surviving are two sons, a daughter, 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The second “in person” presentation of the Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering Friday and Saturday drew more spectators than expected and many for the first time.
The Lone Star Board was formed in 2019 after the Texas Gathering board retired after 33 successful shows and Lone Star’s first was in 2020.
It was “virtual” last year because of the Covid Pandemic.
Performer Brenn Hill said the Alpine Gathering this year was one of the best in his lifetime and the Gatherings are among his favorite events of the year.
The National Gathering at Elko, Nevada, was canceled this year for the second time and the Alpine Gathering was the first after the country began shaking off the shutdowns.
Many coming here Friday and Saturday were new to the Alpine Gathering. It was estimated that 40 to 60 percent of the audience raised their hand when asked who was here for the first time.
A significant percentage of those had never been to a poetry gathering anywhere.
The Lone Star Board met Sunday night and already began work on the 2023 Gathering.
Benjamin Barrientes came into KVLF Monday, closing off the democrat candidates for Brewster County Judge in our series of interviews.
Barrientes said that his experience in academia, critical mindset and open mind would give him an advantage as County Judge.
Barrientes: “I’m looking at different layers of the matter. I listen and I try to engage in conversation particularly with people that may have opposing points of view.”
Barrientes would like to encourage Sul Ross graduates to stay in the county, interdepartmental communication to improve and underrepresented people to be heard.
Barrientes: “I am a family man. I’ve been married for 39 years. I can see how important it is to treat everyone as if they matter, even the youngsters.”
Barrientes is running for the Democrat nomination against Oscar Cobos and Mimi Smith.
The winner of that race faces the winner in the Republican primary among Greg Henington, Monty Kimble and Ryan Skelton.
Early voting currently is underway for the March 1 Primaries.
Tickets to the Dark Skies Festival Star Parties on April 29 and 30 at McDonald Observatory are now available.
Special community night programs are offered at the discounted rate of five dollars per person for residents of West Texas. Proof of residency is required.
All are welcome to attend the Dark Skies Festival from 3 to 8 pm on Friday, April 29, and noon to 8 on Saturday, April 30.
Visitors can visit during the daytime as well and no reservations are required for daytime events.
Also planned are scenic tours, new exhibits at the Visitors Center, guest speakers, music, photography workshops and more.
