Services will be Friday for Angelita Torres of Alpine, who died November 30 at age 86.
Rosary was scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Alpine Memorial Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with burial to follow at Holy Angels Cemetery.
Angelita was born on August 2, 1936, in Terlingua and was active in the Catholic Church and a member of the Guadalupanas.
She was preceded in death by her husband. Surviving are five children, three brothers, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Carol Fairley, the long-time professor of art at Sul Ross State University, was honored with a retirement party Thursday celebrating 26 years in front of the classroom.
She has been a big part of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts since 1996.
Fairley has a four-year certification in painting and sculpture from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Texas.
She is nationally known for work featured in national juried exhibitions.

After a flurry of events leading up to Christmas last week, more are on the calendar for the two weeks remaining before the Big Day.
The Big Bend Chamber of Commerce will host A Christmas Story Friday at the Terlingua Ranch Bunkhouse for a holiday edition of a movie night with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation will play at the same place and time with the movies starting at 7 that evening.
At each viewing will be a most-festive attire contest where the winner will get a prize. Refreshments will be sold for cash only.
Although the event is free to the public, donations are always appreciated.
In Marfa, the Holiday Bazaar is this weekend at the Presidio County Courthouse with a parade at 6 Friday evening open to anyone who wants to participate and a tree lighting at the courthouse.
At the courthouse all weekend will be a pet parade, featured performers, vendors and Christmas Carols by the Marfa Children’s’ Choir.
The Alpine Police Department’s Christmas Parade will be Friday, December 16, with lineup at 5 p.m. at the Alpine Civic Center.
The parade starts at 5:30 and moves to the Alpine Visitors Center on 3rd Street with the grand finale of a concert by Alpine Community Band under the direction of Chuck Wilson.
Businesses, organizations, families and anyone who wants to be in the parade is invited to participate. No preregistration is required. Just show up.

La Cámara de Comercio de Big Bend presentará “A Christmas Story” el viernes en Terlingua Ranch Bunkhouse para una edición festiva de una noche de cine con apertura de puertas a las 6:30 p.m.
Las vacaciones navideñas de National Lampoon se reproducirán en el mismo lugar y hora con las películas a partir de las 7 de la noche.
En cada visionado se realizará un concurso de indumentaria de lo más festivo donde el ganador obtendrá un premio. Los refrescos se venderán solo en efectivo.
Aunque el evento es gratuito para el público, siempre se agradecen las donaciones.
En Marfa, el Holiday Bazaar es este fin de semana en el juzgado del condado de Presidio con un desfile a las 6 de la tarde del viernes abierto a cualquiera que quiera participar con el encedidio del árbol navideño en el juzgado.
En el juzgado durante todo el fin de semana habrá un desfile de mascotas, artistas destacados, vendedores y canciones navideñas del Coro de Niños de Marfa.
El Desfile de Navidad del Departamento de Policía de Alpine será el viernes 16 de diciembre, con una alineación a las 5 p.m. en el Centro Cívico de Alpine.
El desfile comienza a las 5:30 y se traslada al Centro de Visitantes Alpine en 3rd Street con el gran final de un concierto de Alpine Community Band bajo la dirección de Chuck Wilson.
Se invita a participar a empresas, organizaciones, familias y cualquier persona que quiera estar en el desfile. No se requiere registro previo.
