Good evening, today is Thursday, December 2nd, and I’m Hector Montemayor-Perez.
Some corrections to the obit for Hector Holguin of Alpine have been made known to us.
He died Friday at age 65.
Hector was born on January 20, 1956, and helped his mother raise his four siblings. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on March 20, 1974, to serve his country. Hector would later marry and court the love of his life for 42 years, Eva Maria Saenz Holguin. He had a 37-year career with West Texas Utilities, now known as American Electric Power company, or A.E.P.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, three sons, his mother, three sisters and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be at from 10 to 4 Friday at Alpine Memorial Funeral Home with Father Miguel “Mike” Alcuino officiating.
Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. with funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and burial at Holy Angels Cemetery.
Fort Leaton State Historic Site in Big Bend Ranch State Park will have mobile offices while construction and renovations begin.

The Alpine Christmas celebration will be from 4:30 to 8:30 Saturday evening along Sul Ross Avenue climaxed with the Sul Ross Lighting of the Christmas Tree.
Alpine Historical Association President Abbey Branch said it all starts on the Brewster County Courthouse lawn with Santa’s helpers sponsored by Morrison True Value.
From there, the march east begins at the 128-year-Old School House for kid’s crafts and hot cocoa provided by Porters with the City of Alpine. The old school, most recently the old Sunshine House, is being remodeled as an extension of City Hall.
From 5:30 to 9, Individual performances will be by bands and choirs organized by Sul Ross Director of Choral Activities and Vocal Studies Dr. Andrew D. Alegria.
They will be at various venues along East Sul Ross Avenue, ending at Lawrence Hall for the tree lighting and photos with Santa. Musicians from Alpine, Marfa, Fort Stockton and Presidio will serenade as historic homes will be decorated and some homeowners will provide refreshments, music and lights.
Along with Alpine’s latest iteration of Christmas in Alpine, communities throughout the Big Bend will have Christmas celebrations this weekend.
Presidio will host the Posada starting at 7 p.m. Friday and Marathon’s Fiesta de la Noche Buena will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
And Fort Davis will have its new Miracle on State Street also will also be Saturday, beginning with a parade at 3 p.m. It marks the state liquor laws approved by local voters last month, extending alcohol sales county-wide instead of various laws in each precinct
Border Patrol Sector agents and Big Bend National Park Rangers arrested a large group of undocumented migrants south of Alpine Wednesday.
The group of more than 70 non-citizens included migrants from Venezuela.
From November through Wednesday, the Patrol’s Big Bend Sector has encountered more than 200 subjects in the park.

Se nos han dado a conocer algunas correcciones al obituario de Héctor Holguín de Alpine.
Murió el viernes a los 65 años.
