Services will be Thursday in Fort Davis for Maria Cindy Huertas, who died December 8 in Odessa at age 59.
Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the funeral at 10 with Father Matta officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Maria Cindy was born in Alpine on September 13, 1962, and was adopted by Luis and Dulces Jimenez. She later married Obel Huertas.
After a lengthy illness, she became a resident of Deerings Nursing Home in Odessa.
Maria Cindy is preceded in death by four brothers. Surviving are two daughters, a sister, three brothers and six grandchildren.

The U.S. Highway 90 underpass at the Union Pacific Railroad in west Alpine will be closed from tomorrow through December 22, one week later.
We got the notice from the Texas Department of Transportation El Paso office and it said the closure was because of a U.P. project.
The U.P. public affairs office in Omaha, Nebraska, said the closure was so permanent repairs can be made to the bridge to replace a temporary fix after a truck struck in in October.
The railroad bridge has been the scene of frequent strikes from vehicles exceeding the bridge’s posted clearance of 13 feet, seven inches.
All eastbound commercial traffic is being routed from Marfa, up Highway 17 to Fort Davis and back down on Highway 118 to Alpine.
Westbound traffic should take State Highway 223, known locally as “the loop,” to Highway 188 to Fort Davis and back down on Highway 17 to Marfa.
Some being routed to Fort Davis may continue up 17 or 118 to Interstate 10 to continue their trip.
Already some large vehicles such as just-completed mobile homes from Presidio already have to take the detour through Fort Davis.
All other traffic for now will be detoured along Mosely Lane, Mosely Loop and Murphy Street.
Work has begun on a 276-thousand-dollar expansion of the Alpine Visitor Center that will include five new restrooms, a new pavilion, covered patio and other improvements.
Center Manager Heather Yadon said five new family-style rest rooms, to be open 24 hours a day, are being completed in the back of the building at Avenue E and 3rd Street.
The slab for the 35-by-35-foot pavilion at the southeast corner of the property is being prepared for pouring and other work is under way.
Yadon said many tourists arrive in Alpine and have problems finding restrooms after driving long distances to get here.
The handicap-accessible rest rooms will be along an open-air hallway and can be reached from outside or inside the building.
A new heating, ventilating and air conditioning system also is being planned.
The contractor is U Construction of Alpine and all of the cost of the project will be from hotel occupancy tax funds, not local taxpayers.
Lady Lobo Alexis Carmosino earned American Southwest Conference Co-Player of the Week honors for women’s basketball, the conference office said this week.
Carmosino was two assists shy of a triple-double in an 84-79 win over Howard Payne on Thursday.
She finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, all team-highs. Carmosino added three steals and shot 7-of-8 from the free throw line, both matching team-bests.
The Lobos now are 6-and-4 on the season and 2-and-3 in conference. They next take on East Texas Baptist on Thursday in Marshall.
