Good evening, today is Wednesday, August 16th and I’m Hector Montemayor-Perez.
No services are planned for James Frank Warren who died August 1 at his home in Fort Davis at the age of 60.
Jim was born on August 26, 1961, in Florida where he grew up, got his G.E.D. and joined the United States Army.
After living in several different states and towns, he found his wife and home in Fort Davis. He was married to Penny Warren for 25 years.
Jim worked for Fort Davis School District, Jarratt’s Building Supply and Murphy’s Pizza and retired from the Jeff Davis County, where he ran the landfill.
After retirement, he worked at Porter’s grocery store and Cueva de Leon.

A system that television weather anchors said was not quite a tropical storm hit south Texas over the weekend and moved northwest, reaching Brewster County overnight Monday.
There were unconfirmed reports of damage to the roof on the new Alpine High School Building still under construction.
We have a call out to the school district to confirm that but they were in meetings most of the day Tuesday.
Alpine Police posted on Facebook Tuesday morning that, because of what it called “the wonderful rain,” all creek crossings were closed.
The West Highway 90 railroad underpass was closed and through traffic was detoured. The Country Club Estates creek crossing east of the city also was closed.
The eastbound underpass under the old South Orient Line also was flooded and much of the area was under a flood watch until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Rainfall totals were as much as four inches in places and three-and-a-half inches in Sierra La Rana south of Alpine. Sanderson reported nearly five inches of rain at 4.93
South County, including Big Bend National Park, Terlingua, Study Butte and Terlingua Ranch were dry for the most part.
Scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast for the rest of the current week.
Fiesta 1888 will be this Saturday with vendors, performers, food and more commemorating Historic Murphy Street in Downtown Alpine.
The event will kick off at 11 a.m. with a classic car parade along Holland Avenue while vendors also open their stands.
From noon to 3, the parade will turn into a classic car show with vehicles from 1900 to 1979 models until 6 when the Dance Under the Stars begins with the Puro Party All Starz.
The celebrations also will have performances from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. including Ruben Ramos and the Texas Revolution and Little Joe Y la Familia.
Fiesta 1888 is a new community event designed to recognize A Celebration of Alpine History, first observed in 2019 before the pandemic.
It highlights Historic Murphy Street, originally Murphy Avenue, and its development as the main street of what was known as Mexican Town in the segregated past.
The event planners encourage people to bring their own lawn chairs and drinks. For more information call Mary Ann Lujan at 294-2370.
The Alpine Downtown Association is hosting a Summer Business and Non-Profit Mixer at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the newly re-opened Granada Theatre.
The mixer is meant to introduce and welcome the newly re-opened Granada Theatre and Saddle Club and introduce new owner Benjamin Garcia.
New businesses and non-profits who would like to introduce themselves to the community are invited to present themselves at the mixer.
