Good evening, today is Wednesday, April 5th, and I’m Hector Montemayor-Perez.
Church services are pending for Catalina Urquietta Bermudez of Alpine, who died last Thursday at Focused Care in Fort Stockton at age 92.
She was born on May 1, 1930, in Terlingua and attended Centennial School in Alpine.
Catalina married Angel Moralez Bermudez on June 29, 1958, a union that lasted 42 years.
Their military life took them to Alabama, Texas, New York City, Germany, Oklahoma and Virginia where Angel retired in December, 1975.
They then returned to Alpine and Catalina worked as a housekeeper and caretaker.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Surviving are a son and two sisters.

Emergent Air ambulance service, nearing its first anniversary in Alpine and North Brewster County, now has an air ambulance based full time in Alpine.
The city and county reached agreement for the new service last year after Alpine Ambulance President Mike Scudder died in late 2021.
Emergent Program Manager Walt Kuykendall told City Council Tuesday the company is nearing a project to base an ambulance and crew fulltime in Marathon.
He said the state has set aside 22 million dollars to train emergency medical personnel and Emergent will train technicians to serve in the ambulance.
Kuykendall said the service will be operational when crews have been trained. He said it is too early to tell when that will be.
He also said his aircrews will work around a lighting project at Alpine Casparis Municipal Airport when it begins Tuesday on the north-south runway 1-19.
The project at nearly $800,000 will help rectify the aging airfield lighting system, which City Manager Megan Antrim said was the “oldest at a general aviation airport.”
Airport Manager Abel Hinojos said the other runway, 5-23, also will need new lighting but that will have to come in a second contract.
Kuykendall said if the Alpine airport is not usable during construction, they can temporarily use Marfa. But that airport does not have a hanger large enough for its Beech King Air 200 aircraft.
