The Alpine Historical Association’s Ghost Tours are back beginning at 8 Thursday, Friday and Saturday and will include a “spooky cocktail” courtesy of Reata Restaurant.
Those with outstanding citations in Justice of the Peace Precinct One Court in Brewster County have a chance to clear up their cases before warrants are issued.
The Alpine Avalanche reports the effort is to clear a backlog of traffic citations which some drivers have failed to address.
The court will send a notice to the address on file ordering the defendant to appear in court on or before a specific date.
The notice says generally no valid excuse exists for not contacting the Court after receiving a citation.
A signature on the citation is a promise to appear in a specific court on or before a specific date.
Failure to keep that promise can result in additional charges and fines.
The Second Annual South 4th Street Marathon Art Show will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The invitation states “you and everyone you know” should come to the free event with live music, visual art and authentic food and drinks.
Artists include Anna Whitely and Molly Dumas of Terlingua, Cale Bailey, Shawn Haddad and Santiago Lopez of Marathon and Keirstin Pratt of Sanderson.
Also Dawson Plowman of Alpine and many more.
An open jam begins at 9 after lineup. Coordinator Santiago Lopez said the “funkiest event of the year” will be at 106 South 4th Street.
It is three blocks south of the railroad tracks and look for the art-show sign. Lopez said they had a good turnout last year.

The National Weather Service in Midland and Odessa offers Skywarn training next week for volunteers to learn about weather and safety.
The session will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Room 130 of the Sul Ross Turner Animal Science Building on East Highway 90.
Participants will learn enough about the weather to become an official spotter for the Weather Service.

The Alpine Gem and Mineral Show is this weekend at the Alpine Civic Center.
The free annual three-day show features rocks, rough and finished stones, beads and tools, as well as door prizes.
The show from 9 to 6 Friday, Saturday and Sunday will feature arts and culture, family fun and festivals.

Marfa Live Arts and Marfa Independent School District will present the 12th Annual One Act Plays Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Crowley Theater for free.
The plays are from Marfa High School award-winning playwrights and performed by local Marfa actors.
The community is invited to attend Colors by Piper Donaldson, O.K. by Jack Marquez, Ice Cold by Amber Hinojos and Future Kids of America by Janelly Pereira.
The event is sponsored by Marfa Education Foundation and Texas Commission on the Arts, Permian Basin Foundation, The Chaiken Foundation and Crowley Theater.
