October 14 – 14 de octubre

I’m Carlos Morales and this is your local news.

Henry Cornelio Ramirez passed away peacefully on October 11, surrounded by his loving family. He was 69.

Henry – who also went by “Indio” – was born in Alpine and was the first baby to be born at the newly opened Brewster County Memorial Hospital.

He graduated from Alpine High School in 1976, and then proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Mortarman and rose to the rank of Corporal during his military career. While in the military, he was deployed to several countries, such as the Philippines, Korea, Japan, and South America to name a few. Following his military service, he worked as a cable lineman for several years before retiring.

Henry leaves behind his long-time girlfriend, Shirley Dudley and his five siblings, several nieces and nephews; two aunts, one uncle; and several cousins.

Henry loved performing on stage or at small gatherings with family and friends, playing his guitar and singing. In addition, he relished riding horses, spending time with his beloved dogs, and practicing martial arts. He also enjoyed camping and being outdoors and was fond of Western novels and old cowboy movies.

Services for Henry begin with the recitation of the Holy Rosary on Friday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. at the Alpine Memorial Funeral Home chapel and the funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 24 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Interment will take place after the Mass at Holy Angels Cemetery with military funeral honors.

Henry leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loved him deeply, and a legacy shaped by service.
