I’m Carlos Morales and this is your local news.
Border wall construction has started in the wider Big Bend area – that’s according to the online “Smart Wall” map run by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The stretch of border wall that’s been put up is in Hudspeth County; it’s part of the federal government’s plans for a 175-mile stretch of border wall through the Big Bend.
It’s unclear when construction began.
The news comes as a group of Big Bend landowners have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration to stop the construction of border walls and other border security infrastructure in the Big Bend area.
